At one point of their obsession every sneakerhead faces the problem of having too many boxes and not enough space. Therefore, most sneaker collectors have at least one wall of different shoe boxes set up in their apartement or house which presents a nice facet of collecting sneakers: the different styles and designs of sneaker boxes. Particularly limited releases often get boxes that enhance the product experience and have thoughtful design elements that go along with the shoe.

While Hedi Slimane's start at Saint Laurent was somewhat rocky, he seems to have focused back on what has always been a characteristic part of his work: the synergy of fashion an music. After his photographs of rock icons like Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love, he has now shot 3 more iconic musicians. The series is dubbed "Architechts of Rock and Blues" and features Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis as well as B.B. King. Each one of them wears a custom-made Saint Laurent outfit, that Slimane made for their stage performances.
I love the pictures, let's hope a short-documentary is in the making as well.

This man is one of the most respected guys in the fashion world and yet he is relatively unknown to the masses. In contrast to Anna Wintour who represents the Fahion World and Vogue magazine to an extensive audience, Hamish Bowles caters mostly to those in the know. Through his position as International Editor at Large for Vogue magazine, he has become one of the most respected authorities in the world of fashion and interior design.

Wow it looks like the fashion world has forgiven disgraced fashion designer John Galliano after he has kept a very lowkey profile and has apologized for his anti-semitic remarks 2 years ago in Paris. I hope that his remorse about his actions in the past was honest because the fashion world has been yearning for some of his imagination and larger than life designs.
John Galliano becomes teacher at Parsons and is rumored to be newdesigner at Elsa Schiaparelli!

James Franco's latest movie "Springbreakers" made quite some headlines for its star line-up and crazy storyline. While Franco is mostly known for his acting skills, he is talented in various fields of interest. This shows in his newest effort, the documentary film "The Director" which he presented at this year's Tribeca Film Festival to critical acclaim. The movie follows the steps of Gucci's creative director, Frida Giannini who has built a close relationship to Franco since she asked him to be the brand's testimonial back in 2007.
Franco is known for putting out quality work and his relationship to Giannini might have given him some great insights, so I am definately looking forward to this documentary. Watch it below!

Even though it's certainly Fitzgerald's writing and storytelling that make this book a standout piece of literature, the fact that it has inspired many readers' lifestyle and fashion choices is undeniable. Just by watching the trailer for the new movie or the old Robert Redford version, I have the urge to dress up sharply.
Therefore it's no suprise that the book has served as an inspiration for many menswear designers who have even created "Gatsby" collections!

I have mentioned my favorite café in Düsseldorf, "Toykio", multiple times on this blog already, but I haven't really posted anything about it's founder and galerist Selim Varol yet. In my opinion Varol is one of the most interesting guys in Düsseldorf's art scene right now and all of his projects provide a great mixture of modern art, fun and a welcoming atmosphere.

I have always loved Daft Punk’s innovative and funked-out electronic music. Even back in the day, I could not sit still when I listened to any of Thomas Bangalter’s older releases on the “Roulé” label and they are still better than most of the releases that are put out today. But it was certainly his grouping with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo as “Daft Punk” that brought his music to the next level and turned both of them into legends.

When it comes to shopping, everyone has these items that they have always been obsessing over but simply couldn’t get their hands on yet, wether for financial reasons or due to limited availability. I am in the unfortunate position of having far too many of these items which can be pretty depressing but also serves as a great motivator. As a result of exaggerated prices and the increasing amount of fakes, the search for sources that still offer these items has become something of a treasure hunt for those in the know. Some of these products were only hyped up designs that did not really stand the test of time and I am very happy that I did not spend any money on them. On the other hand, I have some long-time favorites that have always intrigued me and still excert this special aura of great design mixed with limited numbers. I decided to write about some examples that I will hopefully call my own one day, but as for now can only admire and obsess about on the Internet.
To start things off, I’ve chosen one of my favorite accessories of all time: the Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse Graffiti Pareo scarf.

Nowadays the Internet is not only a source of inspiration but also an incompliant platform when it comes to intellectual property. While big fashion brands have always been inspired by youth and street culture and probably have even ripped off artists and smaller labels, it becomes pretty obvious when you are jacking ideas these days.
Jeremy Scott now faces exactly this situation as it seems that he created the prints for his latest Spring/Summer 2013 collection to a large extent by basically using the exact designs from legendary skateboard graphic designers Jim and Jimbo Phillips.
The two designers who were responsible for many popular board graphics during the Bones Brigade era, such as the Screaming Hand and many trippy faces, have now pointed their fingers on Jeremy Scott for using some of their legendary designs without permission or any clearing payments.

After long weeks of constant studying, exams were finally over this week and therefore I was able to do all the things that I've been wanting to last few weeks. After celebrating the end of exams with a couple good partys, I visited the Bryan Adams "Exposed" exhibition today at the NRW Forum here in Düsseldorf.
The exhibition was basically split up into an extensive selection of celebrity portraits and a small but very impressing series on disabled British soldiers. While Bryan Adams is mostly known for his music, his photography skills shouldn't be underestimated!

Louis Vuitton's Miami store recently got revamped by street artist RETNA in his typical typography style. In my opinion the font gives a very compelling new facet to the long list of LV-collaborations. As you can see RETNA is sporting a scarf with the same design that definately seems to be hinting at a possible collaboration on some products as well. Since I have been a great fan of both RETNA's work as well as Vuitton's artist collaborations, this has me in high hopes for some new accessories.

Wow, this is an incredible project and a must watch! As part of the Shoeshine Project 2012 Osamu Koyama from Complete Technque reworked the Nike Zoom Force 1 Snowboard Boot. And the result is an insane gold plated version of the boot that is reminiscient of an antique gladiator boot à la Spartacus! The video was shot over nine days and shows the entire process from sketching to the final product. This is clearly a piece of art and I wouldn't be suprised if we see an allusion to this in the next Air Yeezy ;-)

After his highly successful documentary "Exit Through The Gift Shop", Banksy is back at it again with his new video "The Antics Roadshow". This time his focus isn't so much on Streetart but more on troublemakers in general. You have probably heard about some of these pranksters and anarchists before, but certainly not from this point of view! From the guy who broke into the Queen's bedroom to the man who invented throwing pies at celebrities, this video features quite a few different ways of social misbehavior. While Banksy certainly presents these actions as heroic, he clearly criticizes the current rebellions in England because they do not really have a political message. Moreover it seems that two of his work's main themes, greed and consumerism, are actually the driving forces behind today's uproars!

I have always been a fan of ballet and I am extremely glad that my parents took me to watch ballet performances when I was young. I enjoy the music and the always melancholic happiness that the dancers emanate. That's why I really like all the hype that ballet is getting since "Black Swan" was such a box office hit.
Benjamin Alexander Huseby has shot the Russian ballet dancers of the famous Bolschoi-theatre in Moscow for the latest offering of swedish magazine "ACNE Paper". The photos have a great aesthetic and perfectly bring out the above mentioned happiness without showing any of the dancers smiling.
Watch the rest of the shots after the jump!
