When it comes to shopping, everyone has these items that they have always been obsessing over but simply couldn’t get their hands on yet, wether for financial reasons or due to limited availability. I am in the unfortunate position of having far too many of these items which can be pretty depressing but also serves as a great motivator. As a result of exaggerated prices and the increasing amount of fakes, the search for sources that still offer these items has become something of a treasure hunt for those in the know. Some of these products were only hyped up designs that did not really stand the test of time and I am very happy that I did not spend any money on them. On the other hand, I have some long-time favorites that have always intrigued me and still excert this special aura of great design mixed with limited numbers. I decided to write about some examples that I will hopefully call my own one day, but as for now can only admire and obsess about on the Internet.
To start things off, I’ve chosen one of my favorite accessories of all time: the Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse Graffiti Pareo scarf.

Nowadays the Internet is not only a source of inspiration but also an incompliant platform when it comes to intellectual property. While big fashion brands have always been inspired by youth and street culture and probably have even ripped off artists and smaller labels, it becomes pretty obvious when you are jacking ideas these days.
Jeremy Scott now faces exactly this situation as it seems that he created the prints for his latest Spring/Summer 2013 collection to a large extent by basically using the exact designs from legendary skateboard graphic designers Jim and Jimbo Phillips.
The two designers who were responsible for many popular board graphics during the Bones Brigade era, such as the Screaming Hand and many trippy faces, have now pointed their fingers on Jeremy Scott for using some of their legendary designs without permission or any clearing payments.

Here in Düsseldorf, it is not very hard to spot Louis Vuitton items on the street. As nearly everywhere in the world, the speedy bag seems to be the number one choice of handbag and the famous monogram is seen on scarfs, wallets and every other accessory you can imagine. While a lot of people think that the brand as well as the designs have somewhat lost their magic because they are so omnipresent, I still look at most of the items with great affection.

Wow, this is an incredible project and a must watch! As part of the Shoeshine Project 2012 Osamu Koyama from Complete Technque reworked the Nike Zoom Force 1 Snowboard Boot. And the result is an insane gold plated version of the boot that is reminiscient of an antique gladiator boot à la Spartacus! The video was shot over nine days and shows the entire process from sketching to the final product. This is clearly a piece of art and I wouldn't be suprised if we see an allusion to this in the next Air Yeezy ;-)

Spike Jonze: Mourir Auprès de Toi on Nowness.com.
I actually visited the famous English-bookstore "Shakespeare and Company" in Paris today and realized that I had totally forgotten to post this little Spike Jonze-directed jewel. The short animation movie "Mourir Auprès de Toi" is a collaboration between the famous director and French designer Olympia Le-Tan who is famous for her embroidered clutch-bags. It is a nice little tragic love story that everyone should have seen!

Tom Sachs, A Selby Film from the selby on Vimeo.
The Selby is mostly known for his awesome photographs of creative people's houses and appartements. Lately it seems like he wants to take his photography a step further and go into directing as well. After his little movie about "Runaway Taco" earlier this year, he has now filmed and interviewed the famous artist Tom Sachs. He seems to be able to make people feel relaxed in front of his camera and therefore be themselves and I really like that about his movies.

Artist collective "The Stoyn" has created these cool ice-cream Popsicles shaped like Pop-culture icons such as Darth Vader, Mario or Marilyn Monroe. They also added special flavours such as "Tequila Sunrise" which makes the ice-cream even better. Great idea, I wish I could walk through the streets with a Darth Vader Popsicle!

As most of you have probably noticed Google switched up their frontpage today as they do every now and then for special occasions. Today they decided to collaborate with one of my favourite artists, Takashi Murakami, to celebrate the first day of summer (or winter in some parts of the world). Therefore he has designed two versions of the Google logo with his famous Kaikai Kiki characters. Great idea!

Taskashi Murakami's infamous Art Collective Kaikai Kiki has finished their booth at the Art Basel in Switzerland and you can clearly see how each member draws inspiration from their mentor Murakami and has translated it into their own style. Most of these pictures look very appealing, I hope that we will get an upclose look later on.
