W Magazine: "BEHIND THE MUSES"

9:52 PM

W Magazine has put together a nice little overview of fashion designers and their current musician muses and even provide the accompanying pictures. The list features some interesting pairings and gives some insights on their relationship.
See some of the couples after the jump!
Rodarte and Kanye West:

Apparently the Rodarte sisters were so impressed by Mr. West's infamous Coachella performance that they decided to draw inspiration from his persona and his open approach to mix fine arts and fashion with street-influences. Since I haven't heard of this collaboration before and I love the creative output from both sides I am sure we can expect nothing but greatness from this pairing!

Frida Gianni and Florence Welch:

The exccentric lead singer from "Florence and the machine" has apparently been an influence for Gucci's new designs since she is willing "to dare" and since Frida Gianni designed her tour costumes it's a win-win situation.

Alexander Wang and DIPLO:

When I first heard that Alexander Wang and DIPLO teamed up, I had to look twice since the DJ is mostly known for destroying dancefloors all over the world in comparison to the rather quiet Alexander Wang. But DIPLO actually starred in Wang's newest ads and it seems like they get along very well.

Proenza Schouler and Yoko Ono:

The two fashion darlings from Proenza Schouler have picked Yoko Ono because “We’re really attracted to independent spirits, people who don’t follow trends”, well then she is definately the perfect fit having a history of not adjusting to any sort of rule.

Karl Lagerfeld and Janelle Monae:

Now, this is an interesting couple! Both, Karl Lagerfeld and Janelle Monae are impossible to fit in a box since they are the definition of creativity and a wide range of influences. On top of that their wardrobe obviously shows how alike they think or as Janelle puts it "she prefers for the color to come out in her performance".

Donatella Versace and M.I.A.:

Now this was a pretty unexpected duo, but if you think about these two ladies they have quite a few similarities. Both are very strong feminine characters and have a thing for bright colors. Apparently Versace first noticed M.I.A. when she watched her "Paper Planes" video, what a great song that was!
