For this installment of my „Influencers“-series, I have chosen one of the few Germans who have managed to become an icon of the international Jet-Set: Gunter Sachs.

This man has done and seen it all during his life from being a photographer, astrologist, sportsman, movie director and banker to walking the most looked at red carpets of the world. He lived a life full of appreciation for the nicer things in life like art, women, traveling and friendship. He earned the title “Playboy” long before this was somewhat of an insult and treated his peers with honest respect and appreciation. Therefore, I have chosen him for this post rather because of his lifestyle and view on life in general than for his style choices. Nevertheless, he was named the most stylish guy in the world at one point in his life.

Marc Jacobs has provided a first look at his upcoming Spring 2013 line and it is actually suprisingly exciting. After Kitsuné has shown how well a collection inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald can look, MJ has tken the same route. This time it is not "the Great Gatsby" who provides the theme, but another favorite of mine " Tender is the Night". The looks are therefore a great mix of classic pieces and colors, spiced up with some colorful looks and all over prints.
It looks like it's time to start saving up for next spring.

This year sees the release of many great movies. My personal standout is definately "The Great Gatsby" by Baz Luhrman which features numerous great actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan! Since the original book from F. Scott Fitzgerald is by far my favorite book of all time, I hope that I do not get my hopes too high. I think it is the right time for filming a new version of the book tho, since the 1974 movie with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow is good but I never really felt that it lived up to its potential.
As you can tell, I am very excited how Luhrman will portray the amazing story about the mysterious Jay Gatsby and his desperate love to Daisy narrated by Nick Carraway who is introduced into the world of the "roaring twenties" with all its glamour, parties and intrigues.

After their great "Kaws" book, the publishers at Rizzoli have arranged yet another interesting project. In collaboration with the legendary Def Jam records label they created the book "Def Jam Recordings: The First 25 Years of the Last Great Record Label" which will be released this september. It will feature a preface by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons and other artists like LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Rihanna and Kanye West since nearly every black music artist that is popular these days was at some point in his career linked to Def jam. I'm excited for this one!

So gestern habe ich mir mal die Zeit genommen und das Bloggerbuch "Modestrecke" von Julia Knolle und Jessica Weiss aka "Les Mads" durchgelesen. Das 220 Seite lange Buch ist schnell an einem Tag gelesen und auch streckenweise ganz unterhaltsam. Als Zielgruppe sind allerdings eher 14-jährige, nicht sonderlich Modeerfahrene Mädchen anvisiert, weswegen ich bei manchen Kapiteln eher peinlich berührt mit dem Lesen aufgehört hätte. Listen wie man richtig shoppt oder wie man am Besten im Hotel wohnt (Les Mads Tipp: Blumen ins Hotelzimmer stellen, denn "Home is where the heart is"), sind dann doch eher für unsichere und unerfahrene Leser geeignet.

Zudem wird deutlich, dass die beiden Bloggerinnen verständlicherweise sehr stolz auf ihre bisherigen Erfahrungen und Errungenschaften sind, doch für meinen Geschmack ist es dann doch einen Ticken zu viel Namedropping und zu wenig interessanter Inhalt. Wirklich spannende Themen, wie z.B. die Verbindung mit dem Burda Verlag zustande kam oder die daraus resultierenden Unterschiede zu komplett unabhängigen Blogs werden gar nicht angesprochen. Schade!

Was man aber ganz klar hervorheben muss, sind die absolut klasse Zeichnungen von Silke Werzinger, von denen ich mir manche am liebsten rausgerissen und an die Wand gehängt hätte! Auch der Versuch die Zeichnungen thematisch auf die Kapitel abzustimmen gefällt mir, doch hier und da haben sich kleine Fehler eingeschlichen. So wird aus Alexander McQueen im London Bild einfach mal MqQueen.

Insgesamt ist das Buch ein kurzweiliges und auch ganz unterhaltsames Buch, aber neue Ufer werden inhaltlich definitv nicht erklommen!
