Seems like the Oprah Network might actually have some good shows after all as they have shown an interesting documentary on Tom Ford last Sunday. The documentary seems to give good insights on the designer who revamped Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent then decided he was into directing movies and produced one of my all time favorites "A Single Man"and now is back with his own brand TOM FORD. I am a huge Tom Ford fan and have always loved his work as well as his thoughtful interviews, so I was into this documentary right away. Furthermore it seems a little similar to the classic Loic Prigent documentaries that never get old so I am totally watching this!

I Hate My Collection - 1st TEASER from Markus Nylaander on Vimeo.
London's famous Central Saint Martins fashion school will be subject of a new documentary called " I hate my Collection" created by director Oleg Mitrofanov. This comes at a perfect time since the school will leave its original home to move to a more functional, newer building in the Kings Cross area pretty soon. Now we get a first little teaser video that already shows some of the school's famous alumnis such as Katherine Hamnet, Manolo Blahnik, Julie Verhoeven or Antonio Berardi. I love fashion documentaries and will definately check it out once it gets released!

Swedish Fast-Fashion Imperium H&M have finally revealed their lookbook for this winters designer collaboration with Versace and like most of the previous teasers already promised, I think this one won’t really work for the masses. While I do like the suits ( and I think some people will actually be able to pull off the pink one too), most of the prints are just too flashy which is never a good combination with crappy materials/ quality. To me it seems like this collection brings to light what the previous ones already foreshadowed and which is actually pretty obvious: The extravaganza of having crazy colours, prints or details looses most of its appeal when it is printed on cheap materials or produced fort he masses.
The same problem can be seen in the women’s collection. The gold studded leather dress Donatella Versace wore at the announcement of this year’s designer pick looks not really like the end-product which will be sold to the customer.
In the end the masses will come for the name and I am sure some of the pieces can be worn when mixed with more subtle pieces of clothing, but my eyes already start hurting by the thought of 15 year old feeling like Rihanna because they wear some „Versace“.
Check out some of the pieces after the jump!
